Privacy Policy

Effective October 9, 2026

Aftercam ("we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. Aftercam is operated by an independent developer based in California, USA, and is offered in the United States. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Aftercam app for iPhone, its App Clip and our website.

What information we collect

Account holders: The email address on your account and the name you choose or share through Sign in with Apple. We store the events you create and their details, such as name, description, cover image, timing, guest capacity and gallery access, along with your purchase and refund records. Guests: The display name you enter when joining an event. The App Clip does not create an account. When you join, we issue a credential for that event that stays on your iPhone, and we store only a protected (hashed) copy. If you join while signed in to the app, your participation is linked to your account. Photos: Photos you take, or add from your photo library when the host allows it, are prepared on your iPhone and uploaded to the event. We store an original, a version with the event's film look, a thumbnail and the time the photo was taken or added, and we make the event's memory reel from its photos. Uploaded photo files do not include location data. Contact details: If you choose to receive gallery updates, the email address you give us. If you allow notifications in the app, a notification token for your device. Purchases: Apple processes App Store payments. We receive transaction information from Apple, such as the product, price and status, but never your payment card details. Support: If you contact us, your name, email address, message and the browser details sent with the contact form. Diagnostics: The Aftercam app sends crash reports, error codes and app session health to our diagnostics provider. These include the app version and general device and iOS details, but not your name, email address, account, photos or event details. The App Clip does not send diagnostics. Our website and servers record errors and performance measurements without cookies, request contents or user details, and use a pseudonymous identifier, derived from your IP address with a secret key, for rate limiting and security logs instead of the address itself. Our website also counts page views by type of page, such as a public page, an invitation or a gallery, without cookies, user details or the page's address.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to: — Operate the Service: events, capture, uploads, reveals, galleries and memory reels — Sign you in, including sending sign-in links — Send the event updates you choose, such as gallery-ready emails and notifications, and notices before a gallery is removed — Process purchases and refund requests — Respond to support requests and reports — Keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and enforce our Terms and Conditions — Diagnose crashes and errors — Count page views and report on how Aftercam is doing, such as how many events are created and paid for We do not sell or share your personal information, as California law defines those terms. We do not use your information for advertising or tracking, and we do not use your event photos to train AI models or for any purpose other than providing the Service. We do not use facial recognition or create face templates from photos.

Data sharing

Revealed photos are visible to the people with access to the event's gallery, according to the access setting the host chose. Hosts can see every photo uploaded to their event. We share data only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only for that purpose: Supabase (accounts and database), Cloudflare (photo and media storage), Vercel (website and service hosting), Resend (emails, including sign-in links), Sentry (crash and error diagnostics and page-view counts), PostHog (business reporting) and Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases and refunds, and push notifications). PostHog receives figures such as counts, dates, event status and purchase and refund amounts, some of them tied to a random code for each host and event that only our own database links to the account or event. It never receives names, email addresses, event names, photos or IP addresses. Each provider may use your information only to provide its service to us, and is bound to protect it in a way consistent with this policy. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, such as reports to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. When you request a refund in the app, you can choose to share event usage and delivery status with Apple to support that request. If you do not choose to share it, we send nothing. We never send photos or guest identities as part of refund support.

Cookies and device storage

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you open an event's gallery with a re-entry link we emailed you, our website sets a secure cookie that keeps your access to that gallery. Do Not Track: we do not track you across other websites or apps over time, and we do not let third parties do so through Aftercam, so our website does not change its behavior when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal. The app and App Clip keep your sign-in session and event credentials in your iPhone's Keychain, and keep photos on your iPhone until they finish uploading.

Data retention

— Account information: while your account exists. — Event photos, memory reels and covers: for the retention described in our Terms and Conditions, and removed from our storage when the host deletes the event. — Guest display names and gallery-update email addresses: while the event exists, and for up to 30 days after the host deletes it or its gallery's retention ends. Turning off gallery updates stops future emails without removing your gallery access, and we keep only a protected (hashed) copy of the address to honor your choice. — Notification tokens: until you turn notifications off, erase your photos or delete your account. — Messages you send us through the contact form or a report: until we deliver them to our support inbox by email or delivery finally fails, and up to 90 days after that in our database; replies in our support inbox are kept as long as needed to help you and keep a record of the request. — Crash reports, diagnostics and security logs: up to 90 days. — Business reporting figures: our reporting copy, which PostHog reads, covers only the past year, and a deleted account's figures are cleared from it at its next update. The records behind these figures stay in our database, but when you delete your account we remove everything that links them to you or your events. — Purchase and refund records: as long as we need them for payments, accounting and legal obligations. Hosts can remove individual photos in the app and restore them for 7 days. Leaving an event in the app removes it from your iPhone; the photos you took stay with the event.

Deleting your data

To delete your account, choose Account status under Account in the app, then Delete account, or email support@aftercam.app from the email address on the account. When we delete an account, we end sign-in and remove the events you host, the photos you contributed to other hosts' events, your contact details, notification settings and gallery memberships, and rebuild affected memory reels without the removed photos. Our business reporting records stay, with everything that links them to you removed. Photos are removed from our storage after a short grace period, once any pending payment is resolved. Deleting your account does not request a refund. Guests can erase the photos they took at an event by choosing Erase my photos in the app or App Clip they joined with. Erasing is permanent: the photos leave the event's gallery and memory reel and cannot be restored, unlike a photo a host removes. Guests can also ask us to remove their photos or contact details by emailing support@aftercam.app with the event. We keep limited records we need for payments, refunds, fraud prevention and legal obligations, such as transaction and refund records, and they are no longer available through the Service. When we review content to report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, report it, or receive a law enforcement request to preserve it, we keep a copy of it, and the details we hold about who uploaded it, in restricted storage for as long as that review or the law requires, even after the event or account is deleted, and then delete it. Photos that someone has already downloaded or shared cannot be recalled. Our database is backed up once a day and each backup is kept for 7 days, so information we delete can still sit in a backup for up to that long before it ages out. We use those backups only to recover from data loss, and a recovery is followed by re-applying the deletions we have a record of. Photos, memory reels and covers are not in those backups: when they are removed from our storage, they are gone.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including: — The right to access the personal data we hold about you — The right to correct inaccurate data — The right to request deletion of your data — The right to object to or restrict certain processing — The right to data portability To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@aftercam.app. We may ask for information to confirm the request is yours, and we will not treat you differently for making one.

Security

We use encryption for data in transit and private storage for photos and personal data, and we encrypt guest email addresses and notification tokens. No system is perfectly secure. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

Children

Aftercam is not directed at children under 13. From version 1.0.1, when Apple tells the Aftercam app or App Clip that the law requires an age check for you, the app asks Apple for your age range, and someone under 13 cannot create an event, join one or upload a photo. The app compares the range with 13 on your iPhone and does not store it or send it to us, so the check does not tell us who it stopped. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and if we learn that we have, we delete it. A parent who believes their child used Aftercam can email support@aftercam.app to have the child's information deleted.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, and the date at the top of this page shows when the current version took effect. When we make material changes, we will notify account holders by email or in the app where practical.
